How to transcribe Microsoft Teams meetings

Last updated January 18, 2026

Microsoft Teams built-in transcription

Microsoft Teams offers recording with automatic transcription for all meetings. When you record a Teams meeting, the recording is automatically transcribed and saved alongside the video file.

For Teams Premium subscribers, Microsoft also offers Recap, which provides AI-generated meeting summaries, speaker identification, and intelligent insights from your recordings.

Why use Audiogest instead

While Teams offers basic transcription, Audiogest provides professional features for teams who need more from their meeting transcripts:

  • Accurate transcripts with speaker labels - More accurate transcription with better speaker attribution and inferred names, even without Teams Premium
  • Custom AI summaries - Generate any type of summary or deliverable using custom prompts tailored to your workflow
  • Team collaboration and exports - Share transcripts and summaries with your team within Audiogest, or export in multiple formats (Word, TXT, SRT)
